Mink Eyelash Application and Cleaning Best Practices
Gently remove each lash from tray with tweezers, holding the end of the lash band. Do not tug on the fur, only handle from the band.
Quick Tip
If it is your first time working with lashes, and you’re having trouble, try a very gentle bend of the lash tray while you hold it in your hand under where the lash sits. This will help you to grasp the corner with your tweezers. Remember to push it back into place!! The lash tray is what keeps your investment tip-top for those 20+ wears.
#1 MEASURE AND TRIM:
Using a tweezer, or clean fingers hold the lash from the outer corner while looking in into a mirror.
Place the lashes to base of your natural lash line. If you chose a lash style in which there are shorter lashes on one end which gradually increase, fanning out o longer on the other end; always make sure to put the shorter lengths towards the inside (between your eyes/nose.)
Trim any access lashes from your outer corner. The lash will now fit comfortably on your eye.
All other lash styles: simply place along your natural lash line. Always make your trim with sharp scissors and between lash sections so that you have a nice clean end. This is helpful in maintaining shape, comfort, and keeping the look flawless!
Quick tip! Keep the tiny sections you trim off. These sections can always be used to add additional layering with the lash that they were cut from. Consider placing these extra sections on a completely different set of lashes you own thus creating your own custom, and original style. Think creatively with these trimmed sections! Consider that extra trimmed sections can be applied in the same way individual lash clusters are, giving endless options.
#2 APPLY LASH GLUE:
The most basic, and well-known lash application is to apply the lash glue along the bottom of the cotton band that will. A very even, thin coat is best, making sure to get the ends of the band well covered. Next, wait an estimated 45 sec for the lash glue to get tacky/sticky before applying your lash to your lash line. Feel free to fan or blow of the glue to make the glue on the band get tacky faster.
Using Too Much glue, can create situations that nobody wants to deal with! For example, lashes may keep popping off on the ends, glue may take forever to dry which can cause time restraints, lastly depending just how much has been overused; it can ruin an otherwise beautiful makeup look because the glue can be seen.
Many people like to start at the inner corner with the lash band and move out as they apply their lash along the eyes natural lash line. Others like to set the lash on the middle of the lash line and then adjust out from there, one side and then the other. It can be helpful to gently press with either the end of the tweezer, clean fingers, or use the tweezers themselves to adjust the lash into place perfectly if a beginner. Our lash bands make all the difference when applying. Our cotton bands are super strong and soft. These bands make putting the lash in the perfect spot, and having it hold a breeze.
Some of our clients swear the best success by looking down into a mirror when putting their lashes on. Others simply prefer to look straight on, having both eyes open, only slightly closing the eye that is getting the lash that is being put on.
2nd way to apply lashes with glue
For this 2nd type of glue application you will need to use black glue in a bottle that applies with a brush. If you have sensitive eyes, we suggest making sure to use a glue which states that it is good for sensitive eyes. Using your black glue; apply it directly to your lash line as you would makeup eyeliner. If you prefer, applying slightly above the lash line will work too. Wait for the glue to get tacky.
Next, take the cotton band of your false lash and do place a tiny bit of glue in the middle of the band and on each end. Wait until the glue is tacky on your eyes, and then apply the lash directly on your lash line, meeting with the “glue/eyeliner.” This is very easy, as the black band and black liner blend together perfectly. Continue with adjustments of the false lash if needed, however typically this method has the lash sitting pretty!
For the most natural look of all, use your tweezer to give a gentle squeeze at the base to the false lash and your own lashes together!
*We recommend using black glue with all of our black cotton band lash styles. This gives a seamless blend with your own lash line.
White/Clear glue is perfect for any clear banded lash styles, however do not take the application of glue on your eye past the length of the lash, or you will see glue.
Quick Tip! For this 2nd method; an oil- based cleanser is suggested for AFTER the false lash has been removed by our method outlined below. We suggest using an oil-based cleaner such as, Clean Zero oil face balm or any brand that is your favorite! These type of makeup remover/cleansers will gently take off ALL of the glue on your lids, along with the rest of your makeup in a matter of seconds.
REMOVAL OF YOUR LASHES:
When Removing your FALSE Lashes DO NOT USE A Cleanser with OIL. NEVER SLEEP with your lashes on. This will without a doubt, delete the number of uses for your lashes, and possibly bother or even injure your eyes depending on the position of sleep.
We suggest Micellular water to remove your lashes. However, if you prefer another OIL FREE makeup remover please be gentle with your lashes.
Use a disposable makeup sponge and soak part of it with Micellular water. Set the wet part along your lash line and hold it there (eye closes) for a few seconds. This will start to break down the glue holding your lash in place. After you lift up the sponge, gently start at one corner of your eye and see if your lash will lift up. Your lash should lift easily up and off.
If it is not lifting you need to repeat the process with the sponge placed onto the lash line for a few more seconds.
If you have our Lash Tool Kit, feel free to also use the Silicone Swabs at this point. Dip silicone swab into your Micellular water, or oil free makeup remover and move it up and down your lash line to help loosen the glue enough to remove your lash.
Once your lashes are off, if there is excess glue on the cotton band you can clean it off with the Bumpy Silicone Swap from your lash tool kit. Simply dip the swap in dipped micellular water.
If you do not have the Lash Tool Kit - use one clean finger to go along the lash band with the micellular water, while you hold the lash with tweezers. Next use your tweezers to pick off any glue that you see hanging off the band. Be very gentle.
If there are any pieces of mascara in the lashes, you can use either the foam tipped swap to remove them, or your silicone brushes to brush and fluff your lashes of any particles.
Using cotton q-tips, and other cotton sources can get cotton fibers in the lashes, which are difficult to get out.
If your lashes get excessively wet. Simply allow them to dry completely before fluffing them with your silicone brushes from the tool kit, or a lash spoolie brush. Make Sure all lash spoolies are clean of mascara, and dust.
For magnetic lashes, use the foam tipped swabs to very gently rub at the magnets, first with the pointed side, and next with the foam side. It is important to keep the magnets as clean as possible for maximum strength.
ALWAYS Place your lashes back into the LASH TRAY, FORMING each band into place. Keep the magnetic closure of the box closed.
The foam-tipped swabs are also useful for detailing lines in makeup application! Add a tiny bit of eye makeup remover on the foam side. They will remover and shape with utmost precision just about anything from glue, eye shadow, to eyeliner.
Cleaners, and makeup remover with oil ( oil makeup removers/ oil facial cleanser/cleaners/cleansing balms) can be used on the skin AFTER the lashes have been removed ONLY. In fact, we suggest this if you have any access glue still on your eye.
*We recommend using BLACK GLUE with all of our black cotton band lash styles. This gives a seamless blend from your lash line.
White/Clear glue is perfect for any clear banded lash styles.
